Piaggio Aero Industries

The Company was founded more than one century ago in 1884 and its involvement in aeronautics dates back to 1915 with more than 50 aircraft models designed and built often with innovative solutions and technologies.
The P180 Avanti II, Piaggio Aero's flagship product, is the world's fastest turboprop business aircraft with fuel efficiencies nearly 40% higher than most business jets and 25% higher than the most efficient twin turboprops.
Today Piaggio Aero Industries S.p.A. employs about 1.350 people in two different plants.
Final aircraft assembly, flight-testing and the service centre of aircraft is located at the corporate headquarters on the Genoa International Airport. Aircraft and engine component manufacturing activity, general engineering, and engine maintenance and overhaul are all undertaken at Finale Ligure.
Piaggio Aero Industries currently manufactures parts and performs maintenance, repair and overhaul operations on jet, turboshaft and turboprop engines under licence from Rolls-Royce (UK) and Honeywell (USA). They manufacture components for Pratt & Whitney, Agusta and other world leader manufacturers.
The Engine R&D Centre, located in Finale Ligure, focuses on IR suppression systems and innovative manufacturing systems research. Currently it started a joint partnership with University of Genoa and collaborates with other major European research centres. The goal is to establish a Centre of Excellence for aeronautic engine research and development.
